Welcome to the Grandma Darling & Malcolm Merrill blog!

Malcolm Hendricks Merrill (1903-1987) was my grandfather, and he was a world renown figure in public health. He and his wife, Thelma Holdaway (1904-1998), were wonderful, kind grandparents.



Some years after they both passed away, I ended up with boxes of photos, travel brochures, journal publications and other artifacts that they had accumulated. I also have their world map that contains pins on the dozens of countries that Malcolm (and sometimes Thelma) visited.

I feel like I have gotten to know my grandparents even better as I have explored all of these things, and have been trying to decide how to share some of this with their other descendants. E-mails get lost and don't reach everyone interested. Videos tend to be watched just once (if at all), and have to be kept short in order to not go beyond a limited attention span.

So I'll try posting to this blog, so that anyone interested can go back and see what they missed, or skim what they're not currently interested in.
